FPL Library - A National Forest Service Library
The Forest Products Laboratory Library is one of two specialized branches in the three branch National Forest Service Library (NFSL) system. The other two branches are based in Ft. Collins, CO (The National Forest Service Library branch) and San Juan, PR (The International Institute of Tropical Forestry branch.) |
The NFSL system provides access to electronic journals and bibliographic databases, current literature alerting, reference, and interlibrary loan services to support the needs of Forest Service employees.
The FPL Library is also open to the public for reference inquiries and assistance accessing Forest Service research. General inquiries may be sent to SM.FS.FPLLibrary@usda.gov. The Library’s regular operating hours are listed below. The FPL Library is not currently open to walk-in visitors.

The FPL Library serves an access point to the entire NFSL collection. Locally held subject areas include solid wood products, pulp and paper, mycology, wood anatomy, wood engineering, biotechnology, adhesives, wood preservation, fire research, economics, biodeterioration of wood, paints and coatings, and recycling. Subjects change with changes in federal emphasis areas.

Treesearch: Treesearch is an online system for sharing free, full text publications by Research and Development scientists in the USDA Forest Service. Included in Treesearch are scholarly works authored by the agency’s scientists and published by journals, in conference proceedings, or in books. Treesearch also offers scholarly works published by the agency which may or may not have been authored by agency researchers.
National Agricultural Library: NFSL is a field library of the USDA National Agricultural Library (NAL.) The NAL is one of five national libraries of the United States and houses one of the world's largest collections devoted to agriculture and its related sciences.
